A motorcycle seat has a harder life than any car interior. It sits outside in sun and rain, takes your full weight through two small contact patches, and gets dragged over by boots and luggage straps every time you ride. So it is no surprise that seats are usually the first part of a bike to look tired: stitching gives way, vinyl splits along the nose, foam collapses on one side, and what started as a comfortable perch becomes something you notice for all the wrong reasons.
At Ultimate Trim we handle motorcycle seat upholstery from our workshop at Unit 6 Carrock Road on the Wirral, led by Craig, our lead trimmer with 15 years' experience. Whether you need a worn cover recovering, a replacement cover patterned from scratch, or a full custom motorbike seat for a special build, the work is done by hand, on your actual seat pan, so the finished seat fits the way the factory one did on day one.
Most motorbike seat upholstery jobs start the same way: the cover has split, gone baggy or faded, but the seat underneath is fundamentally sound. We strip the old cover, inspect the foam and the pan, put right any damage we find, then make a new cover patterned from the original. Because the pattern comes from your seat rather than a generic template, the new cover pulls down tight over every contour with no wrinkles, no loose corners and no guesswork.
If the rest of your bike's trim needs attention too (tank pads, tail cowls, luggage), mention it when you enquire. And if the problem is really wear and tear rather than the cover itself, our seat repair service covers stitching, panel and foam repairs across everything we trim.
The cover is what you see, but the foam is what you feel. Over the years, foam compresses, hardens and sags, usually unevenly, which is why an older seat can feel fine for twenty minutes and miserable after an hour. We reshape, rebuild and re-density seat foam to suit you: lowering a seat so you can get both feet down, building up support where the original foam has gone flat, or reprofiling the shape for a different riding position.
This matters for pillions too. A pillion seat is often an afterthought from the factory, and a reshaped pillion pad with the right foam can transform how far your passenger is happy to travel. Ask us about comfort inserts such as gel pads when you get in touch and we will advise what suits your seat.
If you want the seat to make a statement rather than disappear, we build custom motorcycle seats to your design: two-tone panels, contrast stitching, diamond or flute patterns, coloured piping, or a clean minimal look for a cafe racer or bobber build. Ask us about embossed logos and decorative details when you enquire.
If you are still deciding on the look, our design service can help you visualise colours and stitch styles before any material is cut, so you commit to a finish you have actually seen.
Classic and vintage motorcycles bring their own demands. The right result is usually not a modern-looking seat but a correct one: period panel lines, the right piping, stitching where the original had it. Wherever the original cover survives, we use it as the pattern and reproduce the details; where it does not, we work from photos and reference material to get the seat looking right for the bike's era.
Car trim lives indoors; bike seats do not. We cover motorcycle seats in weatherproof, UV-stable materials made for the job, so the seat shrugs off rain, resists fading and keeps its grip in the wet. Tell us how the bike is used (daily commuter, weekend toy, show bike) and we will recommend materials to match.
Here is the best part: you do not need to be anywhere near the Wirral. A motorcycle seat unbolts in minutes, fits in a modest box and ships cheaply, which makes it ideal for our By Post service. Request a quote with photos, courier the seat to us, approve photos of the finished work, and it comes back to your door ready to bolt on. Of course, if you are local you are welcome to drop it in at the workshop instead.
Send us a few photos of your seat and tell us what you are after, and we will come back with a firm quote before any work starts.
Tell us the bike, what is wrong with the seat (splits, sagging, discomfort) and the look you are after. We reply with a quote and advice on materials.
Drop it in at our Wirral workshop or post it to Unit 6 Carrock Road, Wirral, CH62 3RA. Motorcycle seats are compact and ship well by courier, so you can send yours from anywhere in the UK.
The old cover comes off, the foam is assessed and reshaped if needed, and the new cover is patterned to the exact seat pan and fitted under proper tension.
You approve photos of the finished seat, then collect it or have it couriered back to your door, ready to bolt straight on.
Every seat is quoted individually, because bikes, pans and foam conditions vary so much. These are the jobs we are asked for most.

Almost never. In most cases we strip the damaged cover, check and repair the foam beneath, and fit a new cover patterned from your original. The seat pan and mounting points stay exactly as they were, so it bolts back on like the factory part.
Yes. Foam reshaping is one of the most common requests. We can soften a plank-hard seat, build up support where the foam has collapsed, or reprofile the shape to adjust your seat height and riding position. Tell us what hurts and where, and we will suggest an approach.
Seats that live outside in British weather need materials chosen for the job, so we use weatherproof, UV-stable covering materials designed for motorcycle use rather than ordinary interior trim. We will recommend options for your bike and budget when you enquire.
Yes. For classic and vintage motorcycles we pattern the new cover from the original wherever possible, reproducing panel lines, piping and stitch details so the seat looks correct for the era of the bike.
