Your campervan is part daily driver, part living room, and the upholstery takes more punishment than either. Ultimate Trim specialises in campervan upholstery: full seat retrims, rock and roll bed cushions, captain seat conversions and comfort upgrades, all cut and sewn by hand in our Wirral workshop under lead trimmer Craig, who has 15 years' experience in vehicle trimming. Whether you want a hard-wearing leatherette interior for weekend surf trips or a full leather cab that matches a professional conversion, we manufacture everything bespoke to your van.
Vans we work on
VW Transporter T5, T6 & T6.1
The heart of what we do. A VW T6 seat retrim (cab seats, kombi rears or the full interior) transforms the most-used part of the van. We handle single and double passenger seats, armrests, headrests and rear benches. See our dedicated pages for the VW T5, VW T6 and VW T6.1.
Micro-campers deserve the same finish. We retrim Caddy front seats and rear conversions to match, in any of our leather, leatherette or fabric options. Read more about our VW Caddy upholstery.
Larger van conversions built on the VW Crafter and Mercedes Sprinter platforms: cab seats, captain seats and living-area seating trimmed as one coherent interior. See our Sprinter & Crafter page.
Coachbuilt and A-class motorhome cab seats retrimmed to refresh worn originals or to match a new habitation-area scheme. See our motorhome cab seat page.
Rock and roll bed upholstery
The rock and roll bed is the centrepiece of most campervan conversions, and the first thing to look tired. We upholster rock and roll bed cushions and frames to match your cab seats exactly: same material, same colours, same stitch pattern and piping, so the bed looks like it left the factory with the rest of the van. If your foam has softened over years of doubling as a sofa, we can rebuild the cushions with fresh foam at the same time, so the bed sits and sleeps properly again.
Captain seat conversions and comfort upgrades
Many owners upgrade to swivelling captain seats with armrests for a more comfortable cab and a usable living space when parked up. We trim captain seats (new or donor) to match the rest of your interior, so an upgraded seat doesn't look like an afterthought.
While the covers are off is also the right time for the upgrades you can't see:
- Sports-foam upgrades: replace tired, collapsed bases and add bolster support and firmness, a big difference on high-mileage Transporter seats.
- Heated seat pads: fitted invisibly beneath the new covers with a discreet switch, turning a cold early-morning cab into somewhere you actually want to sit. See our dedicated heated seats page.
Both are add-ons to any retrim, on any of our material options.
Choosing your material
There's no single right answer: it depends on how you use the van. Leatherette is the campervan favourite: it wipes clean after beaches, bikes and dogs, resists spills, and modern automotive leatherettes are hard to tell from hide. Genuine leather brings a premium feel that wears in beautifully and suits vans that are also everyday vehicles. Fabric (including OEM-style cloths) offers a warmer feel and is the natural choice if you want to restore or extend a factory look. We'll talk you through samples before anything is cut, and mixing materials (leatherette wear faces with fabric centres, say) is common. For a fuller comparison of each option, see the materials we work with.
Made in the Wirral, fitted nationwide
Every cover is patterned, cut and sewn in our workshop at Unit 6 Carrock Road, Wirral. You can bring the van to us. Or, because campervans are often mid-conversion or awkward to move, we offer nationwide onsite fitting: we come to your home, storage yard or converter's premises and fit the finished trim there. Call 0151 559 2515 or email [email protected] to talk through your van, or use the quote form below and Craig will come back to you with options.
